New patterns and quilts + bedroom decor tips

Today we're going to make you want to go back to bed! The bedroom is one of the most important spaces in the home-- on a good night, we get to spend seven or eight hours a night there! Here are few pointers for decorating your sanctuary.

• Go bold, especially if your walls are a muted or neutral tone. A bright, textured or multi-colored quilt makes a great focal point for your room.
• Your bedding is the first thing you see in the morning and the last thing you see before you go to bed, so choose patterns and colors that make you happy!
• Layer with decorative pillows and don't be afraid to mix textures and patterns.
• Don't skimp on the sheets-- a higher thread count will ensure long-lasting comfort.

You already know that we offer a huge selection of darling quilted bedding, and we've just added several new pieces to our collection. A lot of them are even on sale!

Favorite quilted bedding + accessories (including new bed skirts!)

Today we're taking a look at some customer favorites in the bedding category. We actually offer twenty-seven different country quilted bedding collections, each with some of the most darling accessories you'll find anywhere, including decorative pillows, shams, bed skirts and throw blankets.

  Abilene

Abilene is a new pattern we added this summer and it features a classic patchwork star pattern in red, tan, grey and brown plaids. The accessories we offer with this pattern include a standard, luxury and Euro sham, a cotton Euro case, a quilted throw pillow cover, a cotton pillow case, a skirt and a quilted throw blanket.

  Beckham

Beckham features black, gold and rust in a unique, yet classically country patchwork pattern of stripes. The quilted throw blanket has a solid black back for a really nice contrast.

Bingham Star isn't exactly new, but it's quickly becoming a customer favorite. It features classic country five-point stars and gingham and plaid stripe blocks. The best part: eight options for coordinating pillows.

  Ninepatch Star

Ninepatch Star features patchwork stars and squares in solid, gingham and plaid. The wine and tan shades easily coordinate with the country decor you probably already have in your home!

  Stratton Burlap

Stratton is a patchwork and appliqued stars design in tan, olive, reds, and black-- a really cool take on a classic country look! And if you already have the quilted bedding you love, add a solid or natural burlap bed skirt to complete the look. Oh, and did we mention we have bed skirts now? Four country shades to coordinate with what we've got OR with what you've got, and a cool natural burlap that goes with practically everything.

And don't forget-- you save 15% instantly when you buy an IHF Quilt and 2 additional IHF bedding items.

A guest room makeover in 6 easy steps!

There are few things more satisfying for a home decor enthusiast than doing a makeover. The good news is that you can do this without breaking the bank and finish in time for your holiday visitors. Here are six steps for a quick and easy guest-room makeover.

1. Choose a theme. We're probably all guilty of bringing home a fun impulse buy that doesn't really go with anything, so we stash it in the guest room and pretty soon we have a disorderly mix of country, modern, vintage and...what's that? We find that first choosing a bedding set, and then decorating around that theme is easier than doing it the other way around.

2. De-clutter! Often subtracting, rather than adding, can breathe new life into an old room. Save the items you cherish and donate the rest to charity.

3. Accessorize with care. You've gone to the trouble of de-cluttering, so the last thing you want to do is add more stuff! A simple accent lamp or throw blanket might be all you need.

Blackstone Lantern

4. Repurpose and rearrange. You don't have to buy all new furniture to make a room look new. Sometimes just moving things around will give the room a whole new personality.

5. Deck the windows! Coordinating window treatments can help emphasize your central theme. Most of our bedding and decor sets come with a variety of country curtains to complete the look.

6. Take a step back. You may want to shut the door to that guest room for a few days and then return with a fresh perspective. Would that lamp look better on the dresser than the nightstand? Would a braided rug tie the whole thing together?

Bonus step: Don't forget the guest bathroom! The same rules apply here. Do you want to carry over your theme into the bathroom decor, or choose completely different colors and patterns?

A new way to explore Primitive Home Decors

Good morning!

You may have seen the email about this already (if not you can sign up here!):  we just installed some fancy new tools designed to enhance your web "sailing" experience at primitivehomedecors.com, and we're pretty excited about it.

Specifically, these tools allow you to filter and narrow your searches to give you more personalized and more relevant results.

Whenever you enter anything into the search field on our site, you'll see the new navigation on the left side of the page. This area will list all of your options for filtering your search results.

For example, our many kitchen and dining items can now be narrowed according to category, theme, color, price and more.

Another good example: rugs. We have thousands of items under the category of rugs, so a search would yield an overwhelming number of results, from bath mats to stair treads to tabletop braided trivets.  Narrowing your results  by product line, manufacturer, size and type of rug helps whittle down your options to a manageable list!

In the bedding category, you can narrow search results by the size of bedding, (queen, king and full) and further narrow results by color, theme, manufacturer, style, price. The possibilities are (almost!) endless.

You can also mark the compare box to see a side-by-side comparison of any items.

Start exploring!

As an added incentive, we're offering you 10% off anything you order this week, no minimums or anything. (Hint: you'll find a coupon code as soon as you begin searching!)

We would love to know what you think.
