4 ways to dress up your windows
Good morning!
In case you missed the email, we're celebrating St. Patrick's Day all week long with a 10% off sale -- good for everything in the store.
We've gotten some great feedback lately on our new country curtains and window treatments (here's our post on all the new patterns!) so we thought we'd take some time today to share some fun ideas for dressing up your windows.
Shown above: Sturbridge green gathered swag
1. Use household items as curtain hardware and tiebacks. A belt, a length or rope or even a tree branch can add a personal touch to your country curtains.
2. Contrast. If you have dark walls or wooden window frames, try a light, airy pattern on the windows to add contrast. Or, if you have a light, neutral colored room, try painting the window frame a darker color!
Shown above: Rosemary country curtain tiers.
3. Mix textures. We've mentioned before how we're big fans of mixing plaids with stripes!
Shown above: Heartland striped applique scalloped valance
4. The ball gown effect. Better Homes and Gardens suggests it's okay to let those extra long curtain panels pool on the floor rather than simply brush the surface. It's called "puddling!"
We also got a great photo from a customer who just received an order of the swags from us. We love getting pictures from you guys!
If you have any of our items in your house, email your photos to Marie@primitivehomedecors.com or post it on our Facebook page and we'll share it on the blog.

4 country home decor must-haves
Today we put together a list of our country home decor must-haves, the items we think are essential to primitive decor. Enjoy!
Stars. If you search for stars on our website, you'll get nearly 400 results! Luckily you can narrow those down by category, product line, theme, style, color and more. (Check out this recent post of star-themed kitchen decor and accessories!)
A braided rug can make the coldest room feel cozy. Ours are made from natural jute fibers and are carefully handcrafted to ensure long-lasting quality.
Patchwork. Nothing makes a home or cabin look more genuinely country than a patchwork quilt or valance. We adore Scotch Pine, Cider Mill, Peppermill, Kettle Grove and Patriotic Patch, just to name a few!
Primitive dolls. We have more than 50 adorable primitive dolls and country critters, and now that's it's almost, almost springtime, we're getting excited about our bees and bunnies too.
What do you think makes a home look country?

transform any room with decorative pillows
Good morning! There's more snow on the ground today and more single-digit temperatures in the forecast (if you're somewhere sunny, send a little our way!), and while we're daydreaming of snuggling up on the couch, we thought we'd pay tribute to something we know everybody loves: PILLOWS. Here are a few tips we've gathered for decorating with pillows...
According to RealSimple.com, when decorating with throw pillows, you should always use an odd number! (Farmhouse star black check pillow shown below.)
Another tip: consider size, texture, and how the pillows reflect the overall theme and style of the room. Don't be afraid to mix plaid with stripes! (Heartland bedding collection shown below.)
A brightly colored pillow can add a welcome contrast among lighter, neutral colors. (Checkerberry pillow shown below.)
Last, have fun with different shapes! One of our favorite pillows happen to be heart-shaped (below).
You can find more than 70 different pillows on our website!
Decorative, throw and accent pillows
Bedding collections
Shams/cases
And just in case you missed the announcement, we are having a bedding sale until 3/14/14, with $25 off your order, and free shipping on all orders over $250.
And you can always get 15% off when you buy a quilt + two other bedding items.
Have a great day!
